Karen Wright | The Washington Bee Atlas: A year in review

January 23rd, 2025 at 7:00pm on Zoom

Karen Wright will present a summary of the challenges, adventures, and successes of the second year of the Washington Bee Atlas. The program experienced incredible growth in membership between February and April of 2024, ending the year with 160 members. Field trip events included Millersylvania State Park area, Palouse Prairie remnants, Whidbey Island, and others, but not without weather interference. Confirmation of 8 new state records by Autumn Maust and publication of an annotated checklist of Washington bees by Chanda Bartholomew show that progress is being made.

Karen is still pulling together a reference collection of all bees known to occur in and around Washington and is making progress on identifications. She will also introduce the newest member of our team, Caleb Lankford. Happy New Year! May 2025 continue to expand our knowledge of native bees in Washington!
